The Mass propers and readings are set especially for the day.<br>ie: The Epiphany(6th January), The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary(15th August)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-18e910c1519a3706aa2730cf6003f7f3 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#714910\"><strong>Feasts<\/strong><br>On feasts the Gloria is used. The Mass propers and readings are set especially for the day.<br>ie: Apostles, The Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemass)(2nd February)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-070bb0d6a78bbf90b98d76554f5f77aa wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#714910\"><strong>Memorias<\/strong><br>On memorias the Gloria is not used. The mass propers are of the day, but the readings used are often for the normal weekday.<br>ie: Charles, King and Martyr, 1649(30th January),<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-fe33fe316f1e0a0c62a5dc31c2859e7e wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#714910\"><strong>Other Commemorations<\/strong><br>On commemorations of holy men and women who have not been formally canonized but who will be remembered. The normal weekday propers and readings are used.<br>ie: William Laud, Archbishop of Canterbury,1645(10th January)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-66f41fdf7e46850c47ec863ec863a282 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#714910\"><strong>Feria<\/strong><br>Feria refers to a day on the Liturgical calendar on which no feast is observed.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image \\&quot;wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"412\" height=\"847\" src=\"https:\/\/stmarywellingborough.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/calendar.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-773\" style=\"width:310px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stmarywellingborough.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/calendar.jpg 412w, https:\/\/stmarywellingborough.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/calendar-146x300.jpg 146w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background:linear-gradient(352deg,rgb(255,245,203) 0%,rgb(182,227,212) 50%,rgb(51,167,181) 100%)\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-white-color\">White<\/mark><\/strong> is the colour of purity and innocence and is worn on the feast days of Our Lord, the Holy Virgin Mary, the angels and the saints who are not martyrs.<br><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Red<\/mark><\/strong> symbolises fire and blood, and is the colour of martyrdom, the Holy Ghost, the Crucifix and the apostles. Although never worn for extended periods, the colour red is seen throughout the year, and denotes individual feast days.<br><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#046642\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Green<\/mark><\/strong> represents life.
